This is a four day training program offered through the Center for Applications of Psychological Type (CAPT). It's emphasis is on psychological type and prepares the participant to purchase, administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®). When Dr. Martin teaches the program, he emphasizes how personality type is a key to self-awareness and self-development.

What follows is CAPT's description of the program.

CE Home Study Credits: 10

The CAPT Qualifying Program gives you the essentials you need to use the Indicator and provides you with the qualifications necessary to purchase and administer restricted Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) materials. In addition, the training includes skills to assist you in administering the instrument with insight and understanding, experiential exercises, group discussions, and the sharing of diverse experiences, combined with lively instruction on the fundamentals of type. The Indicator is one of the most effective and widely used psychological instruments for indicating personality styles and preferences. This outstanding tool enhances personal and professional development and supports the understanding and appreciation of our complex relationships with each other.

Qualified users of the MBTI® instrument must have either:

  • (1) Completed a four-year college degree plus a passing grade in a college course in psychological or educational tests and measurements OR
  • (2) Completed a recognized qualifying program, which includes content on tests and measurements and provides training in the theory and uses of the MBTI® instrument. The CAPT Qualifying Program meets this required standard.

In addition to providing you with a model introductory workshop and practical exercises, the Qualifying Program will teach:

  • the fundamentals of type, type dynamics, ethical use of the instrument, and interpretation of MBTI® results
  • how to determine reliability and validity
  • the basics of administration and scoring
  • a decision-making model and life-long development model

Tuition covers:

  • a three-ring binder with handouts
  • books needed for the course — MBTI® Manual (3rd Edition); Building People, Building Program: Introducing the MBTI to Individuals and Organizations; Looking at Type™: The Fundamentals, and Statistics and Measurement: An Introduction for MBTI Users
  • document of completion

To register for the program, contact CAPT at 800.777.2278 or at training@capt.org.
