Become
Aware of Your Energy Use
Your energy
goes where your attention goes. And where they go is often unconcious.
So as you learn to take charge of your attention, also begin noticing
where your energy is going.
The things
that you put energy into, for better or worse, are a marker of
where you put your attention. However, you may or may not be aware
that your attention goes into those things - until after the fact
when you realize how much time and energy you've expended. How
much you expended on this thought, that worry,
this project, or that topic of conversation.
Notice also
what seems to pull your energy from you. What thoughts, people,
behaviors, activities...
What takes
energy from you? It feels good to spend energy on things that
you value. You feel tired, but it was worthwhile. Other times
you feel tired and depleted because people or circumstance took
that energy from you and it doesn't feel like it was
a worthwhile use of your energy.
Now, what
gives you energy? What people, activities, thoughts,
topics charge you - make you more aware of your aliveness?
Pay attention
to what gives you energy and what takes it from
you. Do something about the things in your life that rob you of
energy and leave you with no good feeling in return.
